Assignment
We watched a 10 min interview of Sidney Poitier. Besides being really moving it gives us a sense of his character and values. We hear his words and the resonance and feeling in his voice . This gives us valuable insight for our portrait. He overcame many personal and societal obstacle He paved the way for Black Americans in film and he did it all with dignity and honor.
 
Imbue your painting with his qualities by holding them in mind.  Plan on working 3-4hours on this piece, longer if needed but aim for a single session. Work with a timer and remember to work systematically from big to small. average color to specific color. Follow along with the video if possible to track and keep pace with the steps.
