Theme for the month | Portrait Painting and Facial Features We will practice painting a portrait in one session and focus on the 4 main aspects of a portrait: Proportion, Value, Color, and Edge. We will use a limited palette to help you understand color, theory and color relationships. We will go into depth on one facial feature. we will look also look at the form and structure of the eye.

We learn how to simplify the forms of the figure and head by breaking down the drawing process into clear steps. We will focus on the 3 main aspects of a portrait: Proportion, Value, and Edge. This Class starts with 20-30 min of gesture drawing followed by a lesson and/or critique of the previous weeks work.

Theme for the Month | Painting Children This month we will do 2 paintings. We will paint a kid's portrait and do a master copy of a Sorolla's, Children on a Beach. In this class we will look at some of the unique attributes of children’s portraiture, and exploring things like proportions, skin texture and edges. Dominique will demo and break down the process into clear steps.

Theme for the Month | Painting the Figure in Repose We will do 2 paintings of figures in repose. We copy a Euan Uglow first and then do a painting inspired by him. As Always, we learn how to simplify the forms of the figure and head by compressing values and breaking down the drawing process into clear steps. Theme | Drawing our Furry Friends This month we lighten our hearts by drawing those close to it, our beloved pets. Dominique demonstrates the process of drawing her 2 new family members, Bow and Luna. You can draw your own pets, mine if you don’t have any or any other animal you would like. Dominique breaks down the process of drawing into clear and consecutive steps and she narrates the process as she works.
